The Glory of the Cross

Scripture reading:

1Cor.1:18-30

18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

 19For it is written:

I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

20Where is the wise? Whereis the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.27But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—

There were three crosses at Calvary;

1.The cross of Jesus

2.The cross of the 1st thief

3.The cross of the 2nd thief

What cross are you putting on?

Which cross are you identifying with?

1.The Cross of Jesus

This is the Cross of salvation,it is the one that Jesus hang on.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.     Hebrew 12:2

2.The Cross of the 1st thief

This is the Cross of rejection

The first thief rejected and mocked Jesus without knowing that Jesus held a direct nomination ticket to heaven. He lost a golden chance because of despising the son of God.

3.The Cross of the 2nd thief

This is the Cross of acceptance, deliverance and victory.

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.  Col.1:20

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.  Luke 9:23

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Col.2:14

“We cannot force anyone to receive Christ. We can only persuade people by preaching the good news.”

“After Jesus died, the 1st person to be received in heaven was the 2nd thief.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.  Gal.6:14
