Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. 1Chronicles 4:9-10
Calling on God works because from the story of Jabez above,we can see that Jabez called on God and God granted him what he requested.
God granted him what he requested! And he requested many things.
The things that Jabez requested from God:
2.Enlargement of his territory
3.For God’s hand to be with him
4.That God would keep him from evil
5.That he would not cause pain.
When God answered these five things,Jabez got elevated above his brothers and gained honor.
One of the things Jabez prayed for was that he would not cause pain.It seems he used to cause pain to people and this came from his mother’s words or could be bitterness after bearing him in pain. Now that he stopped causing pain,he started bringing joy and laughter.
Nothing is too small or big for the Lord.Let’s believe as we call on God.
He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’ Mathew 17:20
Let’s continue to pray because calling on God works.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrew 4:16
