Your Purpose In Christ

chapter 2

Purpose is usually a very interesting topic, and in this case it is important that we know that we are saved to do good works.

day 6

Your purpose in Christ  is to do good works according to Ephesians 2:10

God did not save us just to be called His children and to inherit eternal life.He expects us to do something as His ambassadors while here on earth. He expects us to do good works.

The following passage  gives  us an example of what God expects us to do.

Mathew 25:34-36

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

From the above passage we see that doing good works is taking care and responding appropriately to  the needy.

Your purpose in Christ is to walk in good works which God prepared for you before you were born.

How do we ensure that we walk in the good works expected of us?

Walking in good works requires character. The fruit of the Holy Spirit that was deposited in us when we accepted the Lord is the one that develops us to have such character.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Your purpose in Christ is to make good works your lifestyle.

Its possible to have this lifestyle by asking the Lord everyday in prayer to clothe you with the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Do you have any other scripture that can define your purpose in Christ?or can you describe the good works that is expected of you as a child of God?
