We are all prone to trouble.
Job while suffering once said in Job 14:1
“Man who is born of woman
Is of few days and full of trouble.”
We cannot escape trouble,in one way or another,it will come. What makes the difference is how we handle the trouble.Who do you turn to when you are in trouble ?
When we face trouble in our lives, most often we feel alone, probably because we are abandoned by friends and relatives.
In 1Samuel 30,we find that David was in trouble. His followers, close friends and family wanted to stone him to death because their families had been taken captive by the Amalekites.
1Samuel 30:6
6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
The end of verse six tells us that David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
Join me on this video as we discuss where do you get your strength from?
Contrary to David, when Saul was in trouble in 1 Samuel 28,he consulted mediums. This continued to annoy God since the Lord had warned the Israelites against consulting mediums.Saul had refused to surrender his kingship and had chosen to rebel against God.Eventually,we see Saul dying prematurely and dishonourably.
We have come to an end of this weeks reading. We will finish the book of 1 Samuel on Monday and then we will take a break until Monday,March 13th.
God bless you!
