We have a father in heaven who keeps his promises,he fulfills his word.We can depend on him.If he says he has blessed you,he means it and he will do everything possible to make sure you are blessed. It doesn’t matter who is against you,the Lord’s word and his will over your life will prevail.
‘‘So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth:it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
This week as we read through Numbers 21-25,I was really encouraged how God defended the Israelites without their knowledge. He was simply keeping his word which he had promised their forefathers.
After staying in the desert for forty years, time had come for the Israelites to leave the desert, and they started encroaching the nearby lands. They would attack and occupy the land, one by one. They defeated king Arad the Canaanite and Sihon king of the Amorites and Og the king of Bashan.
After these wars, they settled for a while in the plains of Moab, and these caused a lot of worry, anxiety and distress to the Moabites, for they feared the Israelites.
Then Balak, king of the Moabites sent for a sorcerer,Balaam, to come and curse the Israelite’s so that they would defeat them in war.
This is how God responded,he told Balaam,
”You shall not curse the people :for they are blessed.”
But Balak was persistent,he urged Balaam again and again to curse the Israelites,he even promised to pay him a lot of money.
The lord continued to respond through Balaam,he says in Numbers 23:8
”How shall I curse ,whom God has not cursed?or how shall I denounce, whom the Lord has not denounced?”
God could not allow the Israelites to be cursed.Note that Balaam was a witch of reputable standard.
I am going to continue to trust the Lord for what he has promised me in my life.He says that he is not a man who lies or changes his mind.People have lied to me,changed their mind about me,but my God will keep his word.
”God is not a man that he should lie:neither the son of man, that he should repent:has he said, and shall he not do it?or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
I also took note that God had a reason for being with the Israelites and blessing them.
In Numbers 23:21-25,the Lord says he has not found sin or waywardness among the Israelites. They are devoted to him, they seek no other gods or witchcraft.
I am asking myself today, am I devoted to God?,can he find a reason to keep his promise in my life?
Let us be faithful to God by keeping his commandments for a time will come when God will defend us without our knowldge.
Has God fulfilled his word in your life,do you have a testimony?
